What: "The DNA molecule that makes up a chromosome is like a rubber ladder that is twisted into a coil, called a double helix. The cell contains two copies of each chromosome, one from the mother and one from the father." The rubber ladder analogy applies to DNA not necessarily the chromosome as a whole.
